Wind turbine reliability is a key challenge for operators such as Scottish Power, particularly in gearbox systems where high loads and constant stress can lead to friction, heat build-up, and wear.

Lofrix Windpower, a specialist friction inhibitor, was applied to turbines showing early signs of failure. Within one hour, operating temperatures dropped by around 6°C, and the turbines continued to operate reliably, avoiding the predicted failures. With millions of operational hours in wind turbines, Lofrix has a proven track record in demanding environments.

Lofrix® was added to the gearbox oil during a routine rebuild of a high-power clay extruder. Following treatment, energy consumption fell by over 5%, and inspections showed no signs of metal wear or component damage.
