Plastics & Medical Manufacturing

Precision Lubrication for Injection Moulding and Plastic Manufacturing

In plastic injection moulding, even the smallest amount of lubricant contamination can lead to rejected parts, increased scrap rates and costly production downtime. This is especially critical in the medical sector, where moulded components must meet the highest quality standards.

Lofrix Dry provides a clean, dry lubrication solution for moving mould components, reducing friction and wear without transferring oils or grease onto finished products.

Whether you're producing high-volume plastic components or precision medical devices, Lofrix helps keep your tooling running smoothly while maintaining product quality.

Built for High-Precision Manufacturing

Plastic injection moulds operate under high temperatures and repeated mechanical movement. Conventional lubricants can migrate onto moulded parts, creating contamination, increasing scrap and requiring frequent maintenance.

Lofrix Dry forms a dry molecular lubricating layer on metal surfaces, allowing moving components to operate smoothly without attracting dirt or transferring lubricant to the finished product.

Clean Lubrication for Injection Moulds

Lofrix Dry is ideal for moving mechanisms within injection mould tools where traditional oils and greases cannot be used.

Typical applications include:

  • Injection mould slides
  • Lifters
  • Ejector systems
  • Guide pins
  • Core pulls
  • Moving inserts
  • Precision tooling
  • Medical moulds

Key Benefits

  • Dry, non-contaminating lubrication
  • Eliminates lubricant transfer onto moulded parts
  • Reduces friction and wear
  • Prevents seizure of moving components
  • Reduces maintenance requirements
  • Extends tooling life
  • Improves production efficiency

Customer Success: Medical Injection Moulding

A manufacturer producing precision plastic components for the medical industry had experienced ongoing issues with conventional dry spray lubricants. To keep moving mechanisms operating reliably, the mould required servicing during every 24-hour production run.

Unfortunately, the lubricant would gradually migrate onto the moulded parts, increasing scrap rates and creating unnecessary production interruptions.

After switching to Lofrix Dry, the results were immediate.

The Results

  • Continuous production without mid-run maintenance
  • No lubricant transfer onto finished plastic components
  • Reduced in-process scrap
  • Smooth, reliable operation of moving mould mechanisms
  • Improved production efficiency
  • Suitable for high-quality medical manufacturing environments

Following the successful trial, additional medical injection mould tools were selected for treatment with Lofrix Dry.

Supporting the Medical Sector

Medical component manufacturers face strict quality requirements where contamination is simply not acceptable. Conventional lubricants often cannot be used because they can transfer onto moulded parts or break down under high operating temperatures.

Lofrix Dry provides a clean, reliable solution that helps maintain smooth mechanical operation while protecting both the tooling and the finished product.

It is ideally suited for manufacturers producing:

  • Medical devices
  • Surgical components
  • Diagnostic equipment
  • Laboratory consumables
  • Single-use medical products
  • Precision plastic components
